SysMaster Unveils Plans for Developing a Multifunctional CPE Device

SysMaster Corporation, the leading provider of Voice-over-IP billing and call routing solutions, unveiled today plans for developing a multifunctional Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) device for provisioning of voice, video and data services. The new product will be named Tornado M10 and is scheduled for release in the first half of 2005.

Tornado M10 will allow ISPs, telecoms and service providers to offer Video-on-Demand, Audio-on-Demand, Media-on-Demand, Pay-per-View, and Content Distribution services. The Tornado CPE device will integrate all phone communication functions for home users via its FXO, FXS, and VoIP interfaces and automated route selection. In addition, the product will allow direct link between home entertainment centers and the Internet, so that subscribers can use the device to listen to online music and audio streams, to watch online movies and video streams, or to navigate the Web.

“We plan to leverage on our expertise in providing integrated VoIP solutions and our short time-to-market capabilities to launch our first consumer oriented product,” said Michael Fahey, SysMaster Director of Sales. “With the Tornado CPE, we will establish a new product line targeting end users of VoIP technology. The introduction of Tornado will also enable us to offer end-to-end integrated VoIP solutions which contain 100% SysMaster manufactured equipment and software.”

Customer premises equipment is communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises. In Voice-over-IP context, CPE is a device that connects to IP networks and provides value added voice, video and data services. Today, there is a growing demand for intelligent CPE devices which is fueled by the global industry trend of convergence between data and voice networks and services.
